VIZITOR TO THE VESTSIDE
an
American blog of Iranian dissent

MARGaritaville

Rallies planned for July 25th, but before you head out try checking into this Facebook Group.

If it wasn't widely known before, it surely is now understood that Iranians are passionate folk. But so are Latinos, yet you don't see them chanting "marg bar" this and that. None of the "khoda margam bedeh!" mentality. I notice this reading about another nation this summer like Nicaragua, who also went through a crazy political upheaval 30 years ago.

I really think this do-or-die, with-us-or-against-us attitude of Iranian mass movements originates from a suppression. A suppression of thought and feeling that comes from being poisoned by the ugly head of an imported religion  -- aren't they All(ah)? -- and a bloody cult-ture of "martyrdom" and victimization lent from a collective psyche over-ridden with guilt.

So forget revolution. It's time to evolve.
